Tallinn Business Bank undergoes voluntary liquidation

One of the oldest Estonian banks – TBB (Äribank) filed for voluntary liquidation.

First operational activity of the bank was restricted by Financial inspection in January 2024. The main reason was claimed to be insufficient counteraction to money laundering.

It is difficult to specify what “insufficient” means in this case. About 4 years ago TBB closed account of Panthera Leo upon some formal reason.

Similar story happened with the only Estonian payment provider GFC (Good Finance Company). Its license was revoked by Financial inspection upon the reason that GFC “started to earn too much money”.

Thus, the main reason for liquidation of TBB was the decision of state authorities, rather than business situation with the bank itself.
